A sponsor is another active duty marine/Sailor at the duty station that you will be PCSing to that will assist you in your arrival. If you are PCSing outside the United States, you are required to have a sponsor. You may either see someone in the Relocation Assistance office or your sponsorship coordinator at your squadron for a sponsorship request form. Sponsors will contact you when they are assigned and find out what assistance you may need prior to and upon arrival to your new duty station. Things such as transportation from the airport, making reservations for billeting and such are typical duties of the sponsor. Your sponsor can provide you with information on the area and what it’s like living there.
