Location
McGuire AFB is located in southern New Jersey, approximately 15 miles from Trenton. McGuire in nestled in North Hanover Township in a wooded, rural/agricultural area which is the least densely populated area in the state. McGuire AFB neighbors NYC, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City.

History
Known as Rudd Field, and established as a part of the Army in 1937, the base transferred to the Air Force in 1949. The base is named in honor of Major Thomas B. McGuire, Jr., the second leading American Air Ace of World War II and posthumous recipient of the Medal of Honor.
Population
McGuire supports over 17,996 active duty, guard and reserve, family members and civilian personnel.
Transportation
Shuttle bus service is provided on base for official purposes only.
Sponsorship
A sponsor will be assigned, if requested, prior to departing your base. If no sponsor has been assigned after requesting one, please contact the Intro Program Monitor at 609-754-0513/0353 or DSN 312-650-0513/0353. Let your sponsor know when you are arriving and by what means. If arriving through the nearby airports, you will have to rent a vehicle or pay for transportation service if your sponsor is not picking you up. If arriving during duty hours, report to your unit Commander’s Support Staff. They will set-up the appropriate in-processing appointments.
Temporary Quarters
The Temporary Lodging Facility (TLFs-All American Inn) is the main lodging facility for families PCSing to the joint base. The TLF (Bldg 2786) is located on Mitchell Road (2786 Mitchell Road, McGuire AFB, NJ 08641). The All American Inn is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Call 609-288-7901 or 609-754-4667 for more information and advance reservations. Guest check-in and check-out is in building 2786 on McGuire. Pet friendly units are available on the McGuire Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF). A daily charge will be applied to your guest folio. When making your reservation you must specify that you are bringing a pet.
Relocation Assistance
The MFSC Relocation Readiness Program, 3435 Broidy Road, McGuire, 609-754-3154, has a Loan Closet for in and out-processing military members and their families. Upon arrival to to JB MDL please contact the Relocation Readiness Program Manager to assist you and your family members to make your move less stressful. JB MDL Newcomers Orientation is held twice monthly on Tuesdays from 8:00 a.m. in the Military and Family Support Center.
Critical Installation Information
- All homes have been renovated or replaced with newly constructed homes. Privatization will provide families with access to quality homes in well-planned communities on McGuire.
- The costs for automobile insurance and off-base housing are extremely high.
- Free pre-school programs are available for children three and four years of age for children new to the Dix or McGuire communities.
- School of choice for Dix and McGuire residents (Pemberton Township or Northern Burlington)
- Cost of off-base housing and car insurance are extremely high in this area. Do not assume your insurance company will be willing or able to insure your automobile in New Jersey.
