Peterson Air Force Base

Peterson AFB is known as the Air Force’s most widespread and diverse wing; also known as the 21st Space Wing. The “Knights” of the 21st Space Wing operate Peterson AFB, supporting five major mission partners – North American Aerospace Defense Command, U.S. Northern Command, Air Force Space Command, Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Strategic Command and the 302nd Airlift Wing (Reserve).

Peterson AFB is located in El Paso County on the east side of Colorado Springs off U.S. Highway 24 and is co-located with the Colorado Springs Airport. Colorado Springs is the second largest city in the state, and the county has a population of more than 600,000 people. The Colorado Springs area also hosts the U.S. Air Force Academy to the north, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station to the west, Fort Carson Army Post to the south, and Schriever AFB to the east.
